Reasons why you need a smartphone

Reasons why you need a smartphone
Just a few years back, a mobile phone was a device used almost entirely for talking and texting alone…something any phone will do. Now, our phones have evolved into those darling machines we can’t do without, our best friends and PAs and voice calls are just one of functions they can perform. From paying bills to live video broadcasting a lot can be done now with smartphones. Here are a few of the biggest reasons everyone should have a smartphone: 1. Mobile social media: Most of us are well versed in the desktop versions of social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest. But without a smartphone, you are missing out on 50% of the fun. A smartphone allows you to upload photos, videos, and statuses regardless of location, while larger, better-quality screens make the experience that much more enjoyable. 2. Email on the go: Many of our conversations still take place through email, but people with a basic phone leave those conversations behind the second they walk out the door. A smartphone allows you to send and receive email from multiple accounts wherever you are. 3. Advanced photography and video: Most smartphone cameras have much higher resolution than those in basic phones, and many can shoot HD video. Some apps let you optionally tag your photos with your real-time location, allowing you to see an interactive map of everything you’ve ever shot. 4. The world’s information, at your fingertips: Whether it’s via mobile web browser or app, that information will be there the second you need it and a smartphone’s larger screen and true web browsing experience blows away the limited web capabilities of a basic phone. 5. Music, movies, books and games: A smartphone is—among many other things—a home entertainment center that can fit in your pocket. With smartphones, any song you want can be queued up in seconds, a TV show you missed can be watched the next day, books can be transferred from your local library, and movies streamed during long car rides. Once you experience everything that you can do with a smartphone, you won’t want to go back to just texting and calling.

How to make your phone battery last longer and increase battery life

While many of us now use mobile phones instead of land-line phones in our homes, these mobile phones come with Lithium Batteries which require some maintenance as long as they are used. Method One of Three: Increasing the Time between Charges Edit 1 Turn the phone off.  Note: only do this if it's going to be for several hours; turning a phone on/off actually uses a massive amount of power itself. This will probably be the most effective and simple way of conserving your battery’s power. Why? This will help conserve energy and also charge your phone. If you don't plan on answering the phone while you're sleeping or after business hours, just turn it off. Do the same if you are in an area with no reception (such as a subway or remote area, since constantly searching for service depletes the battery fairly quickly.) Some phones have an automatic power save feature, but it takes about 30 minutes with no service to kick in. By then, much battery power has be...

Brazil Fines Facebook $11.6m Over WhatsApp Stand-off by Rojon

A judge in Brazil on Wednesday slapped an $11.6 million fine on the local Facebook branch over the company’s refusal to surrender data from its WhatsApp messenger program to a police investigation. The order came from a judge in the northern state of Amazonas, saying Facebook was failing to meet its legal obligations. Facebook Brasil has “shown tremendous disregard for Brazilian institutions,” prosecutors added. WhatsApp has been owned by social media giant Facebook since February 2015. The long-running dispute pits Brazilian authorities’ insistence that they need access to communications between criminal suspects against Facebook’s argument that it is protecting privacy and freedom of communication. Specifics of the police investigation were not disclosed. Facebook did not immediately respond to an email seeing comment on the fine. Earlier this month, Brazilian authorities temporarily blocked WhatsApp across the country for the third time in less than a year. The repeated shu...
